Magnolia Aquatic Club
What
is a Swim Club?
The Magnolia Aquatic Club is a year round swimming program for children
ages 3 years of age and up. We start with lessons and move up through
a variety of competitive programs. Children learn a variety of skills
at different levels of their progress to allow them to become better swimmers.
What are
the cost involved?
When you decide to join the Swim Club there is an initial registration
fee of $75.00 per year which is renewed each September 1, or $45.00
for a seasonal registration fee May through August. There are also monthly
dues that vary depending upon what group you are in, how many practices
are offered and the amount of time of each practice. When joining a
USA Swim Club for the 1st time, the 1st month dues are waived and billing
for dues begin the following month. Our beginner team, “Future
Champions”, have 3-4 classes offered each week for 45 minutes
and our Piranha’s” practices 4 days per week for 1 hour
each session per month. Monthly dues start at $40.00 per month and go
up from there with our highest dues at $75.00 per month. There are price
breaks for multiple family members and those families who may have financial
difficulties. If you break down the amount of time offered each month
you will see that the dues are less than $3.00 per hour.
As with any sport you have additional cost such as swim suits ($35-$45),
goggles ($5.00-$12.00), swim caps ($2.00-$10.00). When you attend swim
meets there are entry fees involved that are approx $4.00 per event.
What if my child
decides he doesn’t want to do it any more?
There are no long term commitments involved with the sport. We simple
ask that you complete an inactivation form prior to the end of the month
you are in. We do encourage swimmers to stick with it and give it some
time. Many times success is not instant and takes time to see the rewards
from the time you spend in the water.
Is there a lot of
pressure on the kids to do well?
Absolutely not! Our focus is on individual improvement, not winning
or medal count. Most of that kind of pressure has come from sources
other than coaches. We want kids to grow to love the sport and enjoy
what they are doing. We like to think we have a place for everyone.
There are those who want a high level competitive program that requires
a demanding training regiment and we provide that, but there are those
who may want a little less and we want to meet their needs as well.
We believe it is important for parents, athlete and coach to sit down
and discuss their goals and what they are wanting from the program.
Goals change over time and we want to make sure kids are ready before
we move them to the next level.
